Rob Mac was really excited about one Wrexham player who has now left the club.

The 2025/26 season is in full swing, and Wrexham have picked up their first 90-minute win of the season this week.

After going behind early on, they managed to beat Preston North End 3-2 to advance to the next round of the Carabao Cup.

Wrexham made history against Preston, reaching the third round of the competition for the first time in over four decades.

Not long before the fixture, it was confirmed that Jack Marriott had left Wrexham permanently for Reading.

Rob Mac prediction for Jack Marriott at Wrexham

Ryan Reynolds has sent a message to Marriott following his exit, while Humphrey Ker has reacted to the transfer as well.

Reading’s manager is pleased with the signing and expects the now former Wrexham ace to add experience and quality to his squad.

Marriott joined the Dragons in the 2024 winter transfer window for an undisclosed fee.

He scored once in 17 League Two outings but got his 2024/25 campaign off to a flying start.

With Paul Mullin out injured, Marriott started up front alongside Ollie Palmer in Wrexham’s opening-day clash versus Wycombe Wanderers.

They won that fixture 3-2, with the now Reading man opening his account for the season.

Following the game, Rob Mac praised Marriott and backed the centre-forward to shine.

He said: “I just feel like he is going to shine.

“He was just looking for that goal that is going to give him the confidence to go out there and be the player that he is.

“It was beautiful. We don’t have any replay here so we had to run back in. We don’t have it up on TV so we had to look on our phones and find it.”

More players expected to leave Wrexham after Jack Marriott

Alongside Marriott, former first-team regulars like Paul Mullin, Steven Fletcher and Mark Howard have already departed this summer.

The summer transfer window will shut on September 1, but more exits could still happen in the next few days.

Ollie Palmer is expected to leave with several clubs linked with a move for the 33-year-old.

A loan move for Jacob Mendy has been mooted, while there are several more fringe players who are not expected to have any role in the Championship squad.
