Wrexham have completed one deadline day signing and could have more to come before the transfer window slams shut.

Phil Parkinson was keen to see more business before the transfer deadline, even with Wrexham completing 10 summer signings before heading into deadline day.

Signing number 11 has now arrived, with Ben Sheaf completing his move to Wrexham on Monday afternoon.

A £6.5million deal has been agreed for Coventry City captain Sheaf to make the move to North Wales.

Parkinson’s attention now turns to further additions, with Issa Kabore set to join Wrexham on loan from Manchester City.

Wrexham also hope to sign Dom Hyam from Blackburn Rovers, so this could prove to be a busy day at the STōK Cae Ras.

With Sheaf now on board as Wrexham’s latest deadline day addition, we looked back at Wrexham’s last five deadline day signings – and how they fared at the STōK Cae Ras.

Modou Faal

Wrexham’s most recent deadline day addition came last summer as Modou Faal arrived from West Bromwich Albion.

Faal joined Wrexham in a then-club-record deal, though that fee has been shattered on a number of occasions since.

Wrexham saw big potential in the giant forward, but Faal struggled for playing time last season.

Faal has now joined Port Vale on loan and will return to Wrexham next summer, but there may already be questions over his long-term future as Wrexham progress rapidly.

Wrexham also pounced for a new striker on deadline day in February 2024, snapping up Jack Marriott from Fleetwood Town.

Marriott brought a proven goalscoring record, but actually struggled to make an immediate impact, scoring just once before the end of the season.

Marriott was exceptional to start last season, though, and looked set for a huge season before an injury blow halted his momentum.

Wrexham have now sold Marriott to Reading, with the striker ultimately sliding out of Parkinson’s plans in recent months.

Luke Bolton

The winter transfer deadline saw Wrexham complete two late signings as wing-back Luke Bolton joined from Salford City.

Parkinson was excited by Bolton’s arrival, believing that he was ideal competition for Ryan Barnett at right wing-back.

The move didn’t really work out, and Bolton almost left Wrexham last summer, but saw an exit collapse mere months after arriving.

Bolton has now joined Mansfield Town on a permanent basis, having barely featured for Wrexham in League One last season.

George Evans

Wrexham made two signings on deadline day at the end of the summer 2023 transfer window.

George Evans joined Wrexham from Millwall, adding real Championship experience to Parkinson’s squad in League Two.

Evans has struggled with injuries throughout his time with Wrexham and has been limited to just 22 league starts.

Burton Albion are now moving to sign Evans, meaning he could leave on deadline day – two years since arriving in similar fashion.

Arthur Okonkwo

The other signing on deadline day two years ago was goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo, as he arrived on loan from Arsenal.

Ben Foster’s sudden retirement left Wrexham needing another goalkeeper, and Okonkwo proved to be a brilliant capture.

Okonkwo dazzled in League Two before Wrexham pulled off an impressive permanent swoop for the stopper.

Okonkwo now finds himself behind Danny Ward in the pecking order, but he will have a big impact for Wrexham for years to come.
