Wrexham are expected to have a busy 2025 summer transfer window once it officially opens.

The summer transfer window dates were confirmed in mid-May, with the window opening up on June 1.

It will then shut on June 10 before reopening on Monday, June 16, before closing for a second and final time on September 1.

Wrexham have been told to make six to nine signings in the 2025 summer window.

A £25m transfer budget for the Red Dragons has been mooted as well as fans eagerly await their first signing.

While a host of names have already been linked, it seems obvious what transfer will be completed at Wrexham first.

Shaun Harvey already told Wrexham fans which transfer could happen first

Speaking to the Fearless In Devotion podcast at an event that was published online in May, Shaun Harvey discussed Wrexham transfers.

When doing so, the club chief explained why fans shouldn’t be surprised about a free agent arriving at the Racecourse first.

He said: “So in those circumstances, there’s lists no doubt prepared of players in each position, no doubt for different divisions, that we know are coming out of contract at the end of this season that will be of interest to us.

“So do not be surprised if the first signings you see, whether we are promoted or we’re not, are players who are coming who are out of contract. And the reason for that is that they represent the best value.”

A free agent deal being completed first does make a lot of sense, as clubs have already had to make decisions on the players who are out of contract in June, thanks to the EFL deadline of May 17.

This means said stars have had a couple of weeks to start speaking to clubs about their futures.

Which free agents do Wrexham want to sign

To back up the claim that Wrexham will likely sign a free agent first, a host of names have already been mooted.

Aaron Cresswell is of interest following confirmation he’s going to be leaving West Ham United.

Harry Darling is linked to Wrexham as well amid his deal with Swansea City running down.

Manchester United defender Jonny Evans is being looked at as he prepares to depart Old Trafford.

Finally, Wrexham have been linked to Tom Lawrence, who Rangers have already announced is not signing a new deal.
