Wrexham players could certainly be on the chopping block as the January transfer window looms.
With the Red Dragons pushing for League One promotion this season, the transfer window is the perfect time to bolster the Wrexham first-team squad.
Wrexham want a striker, with rumours of Michael Smith and Patrick Bamford circulating – although the latter is unlikely.
A goalkeeper could also very well be inbound, with Thimothee Lo-Tutala rumoured amid the Arthur Okonkwo injury crisis this season.
But whilst there will certainly be incomings, the same can also be said for outgoings.
Which Wrexham players could leave in the January transfer window?
According to a report from The Athletic – nine players are on the chopping block this January.
The reason is that these nine players are out of contract in the summer, which could tempt offers. The players are as follows:
Steven Fletcher

Maybe a surprise to many, considering Steven Fletcher’s recent goalscoring form – but at 37 years old, and a potential striker coming in January, it could be time to wave goodbye to the veteran Scotsman.
Jacob Mendy
Jacob Mendy will be desperate for a way out. He’s 27 and should be at the peak of his career but has notched a worryingly low 21 minutes of League One action. January could provide an escape route for Mendy.
Mark Howard

This one would hurt, fan-favourite Mark Howard has been sensational as of late. However, with a new goalkeeper speculated, there may be no room for the shot-stopper at the Stok Racecourse. Howard recently hit 400 career appearances, with 54 at Wrexham – but it may have been one of his last for the Red Dragons.
Billy Waters
No shocks here. Despite Billy Waters hitting form, there’s no room for the striker at Wrexham. A loan or a sale is the likely option after he’s recalled from Halifax.
Anthony Forde

Anthony Forde hasn’t been anywhere near the starting XI this season, and it’s no surprise he’s a name listed on the chopping block.
James Jones
James Jones‘ contract is also due to end in June but this can be extended by a clause triggered by a certain number of appearances. Jones’ injury-prone tendencies may spell the end of his Wrexham tenure.
Jon Dadi Bodvarsson
With Fletcher returning from injury earlier than expected, Jon Dadi Bodvarsson’s time at Wrexham hasn’t exactly worked out.
Sam Dalby

Sam Dalby is on fire in Scotland, meaning Dundee wants to keep Dalby on loan. But with his contract expiring at the end of the season, the likely option will be for Wrexham to recall the forward, and sell Dalby for some cash. Whether that’s at Dundee or not remains to be seen.
Jordan Davies
Similar situation to Dalby for Jordan Davies, likely to return to Wrexham on loan, then maybe sold. This one would hurt.
